Thank You Aunt Vicki for the two new hats for Lily. Lily's Aunt made this hat that Lily is wearing in this picture, along with another one. Lily also ate 23 cc's of breast milk from the bottle today, which is a new record for her. On August 29th Lily got her first real bath, where she got to sit in the water. She loved the water and did not cry at all. She is coming along good and growing slowly but surely, she weights 3 lbs 4.3 oz..

Baby Lily Works On The Bottle -- August 25, 2006

Baby Lily is up to 3 lbs 3 oz.. She is eating 30cc's of breast milk every three hours. Once a day she is able to work on bottle feeding. Right now she is able to do about 4cc's through the bottle. It is very difficult for her to suck, breath, and swallow at the same time. The pictures below are of Daddy with Lily, and Mommy and Grandma Ava. Lily's breathing is doing much better the last few days.

Lily's First Bottle / Breast Feeding -- August 24, 2006

Lily got to attempt breast feeding for the first time and also got to try the bottle for the first time. She only gets to do this once a day for now because of all the energy that it takes for her to feed this way. Everything went well.

Lily Gets Her First Bath -- August 23, 2006

She eats 28 cc's every three hours. We are still watching her breathing closely since her oxygen saturations dip a little during feedings.

Lily's Getting Comfortable -- August 21, 2006

Little Lily is getting all kinds of stuff in her isolet. She loves to sleep on her tummy and cuddle up to her blankets. She is up to 12 cc's every 3 hours on her feeding, and weighs 3 pounds. She has had a little problem breathing when being held the last couple of days, so the nurses are watching her close. She hasn't had to go back to oxygen yet, but she may. Babies Lily's size expend a lot of energy with everything that they do, it is very easy for them to tire themselves out, just by doing a small task like digesting food. She still gets her food through a tube going directly to her stomach through her nose. While she is being fed we use a pacifier for her to suck on so she can associate sucking with food digestion. Before each feeding they check her stomach to see if she has food left from the last feeding. Over the last few days she has been digesting all the food, that's why they have been increasing her feeding. The next big step for her over the next few weeks will be to transition to a nipple for feeding. This may be difficult since sucking, swallowing, and breathing are not easy tasks for a baby her size.

Lily's Getting Comfortable -- August 16, 2006

Little Lily is doing great. Deborah and Chris get to hold her everyday now. She loves to be held close to the body because of the heat. She sleeps most of the time, but when she is awake she is very active. She is still having some problems eating, but that is normal for a baby her age.

Lily's New Pad

On 08/11/2006 Lily got a new home to live in for a while. If you think a condo on the strip is expensive this pad goes for around $50,000 a sq foot, not even Mr. Trump can afford that kind of real estate. She is doing good. They will start feeding her a little more on 08/12/2006 to get her stomach used to food. She was also able to turn over on her stomach to sleep today, which she loved.

This is Baby Lily on 8/10/2006 getting a suntan from some UV lights. She has on her cool sunglasses to protect her eyes from the bright light. She also has a breathing machine on which helps to give her oxygen after they removed the ventilator. This machine was removed at 4:00 PM on 8/10/2006. After being removed Lily was able to breath all by herself. Mommy started to get a lot better on 8/10/2006 and was able to visit Lily many times.

Lily Gandy entered the world on 8/8/2006 at 07:23 AM. She weighed in at a mighty 2 lbs. 9 oz. and 14.75 in. long. She arrived 9 weeks early via emergency C-Section done to her mommy Deborah. Both Lily and mommy did good. Lily had to be put on a ventilator for her first 24 hours. She was able to have the ventilator removed on the morning of 8/9/2006
